The Indiana Trail Running Association proudly offers two $500 Academic Scholarships. The Scholarship Committee reviews applications from qualified candidates. This committee includes people with diverse professional backgrounds who share a passion for the trail community.

The enthusiasm of a candidate for trail running, trail and conservation volunteering, and academic standing will be taken into consideration when awarding the scholarship.

Applicants must submit this form, along with the requested supporting documents as attachments, by Monday, May 11, 2026. The selected recipient will be notified by person, email, or phone on or by May 26, 2026. The recipient needs to be available for a photographed acceptance to share with ITRA members via social media.

Scholarship Application Form

Eligibility
1.) Although this application is open to all Indiana high school and post-secondary school students, the preference will be that the student is an active ITRA member or has a family member that is an active ITRA member. This scholarship is a once per year $500 scholarship. All candidates may reapply each year that they are eligible.
 
2.) Candidates must currently be an Indiana high school student or prior graduate enrolling as a full-time student for the Fall 2026 semester at an accredited Indiana university, college, or trade school. If a candidate is beyond the first year of higher education, the previous semester must have been completed with passing grades.
 
3.) All required elements of the scholarship application must be submitted by Monday, May 11, 2026.
 
4.) Include a copy of your transcript from your counselor or scholarship advisor department. If your school district uses any method other than the standard 4.0 grading system, please send a letter of explanation along with the transcript. If a candidate is beyond the first year of higher education, please include the previous semester’s grade transcript.
